Community Foundation Appoints Bob Baker as New Executive Director
The Board of Directors of the Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington is pleased to announce that Bob Baker was appointed Executive Director on September 11, 2023.
“Bob brings extensive experience to this important role,” said Board President Tom da Silva. “The Foundation is looking forward to its next chapter under Bob’s leadership as we work to advance our vision to invest more funding into local charitable needs by increasing our portfolio of endowed funds.”
Mr. Baker’s career in the broader public sector spans four decades. He is an experienced CEO and senior executive, having worked at national charities, in healthcare, and in higher education. As a not-for-profit executive, he has extensive hands-on experience in designing and implementing integrated strategies, building brand and reputation, and generating philanthropic donations for several charities, including Lakeridge Health Foundation, Habitat for Humanity Canada, and Diabetes Canada.
“I am looking forward to leading and implementing a new philanthropic vision for the Community Foundation,” Mr. Baker said. “Our immediate priorities are to engage the community in our activities and to create a long-term strategic plan for the Foundation designed to increase our impact in supporting local charities.”
Bob retired from Durham Region to Amherstview with his wife Angela and is enjoying all the sights and sounds of Lennox & Addington.
The Community Foundation is a registered charity with a mission to provide a never-ending resource for charitable causes in Lennox & Addington by building endowment funds that respond to the needs of our community today, tomorrow, and for future generations to come. Established in 1987, the Community Foundation solicits donations from individuals, businesses, and service organizations to fulfill our mission. The Community Foundation manages 39 endowed funds and granted just over $127,000 to local charities, scholarships, and bursaries all in Lennox & Addington this year. Since its inception, the Foundation has distributed $1.6 million to charitable causes, including $710,680 in scholarships and bursaries to local post-secondary students.
