L&A Community Foundation Celebrates Granting $171,135 for Local Causes and Student Awards
The Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington has approved grants totalling $171,135 to support local charitable initiatives and student awards through its annual Community Granting and Student Awards programs.
“The Foundation will distribute $90,675 to 26 community initiatives this year and continues to support local projects across a broad range of community needs,” according to Foundation Executive Director Bob Baker. “We are fortunate to have donors who are inspired to create transformational change in L&A by creating funds that improve the quality of life for those who live in, work in, and enjoy this community.”
The Foundation has approved $80,460 in student awards, scholarships, and bursaries to 28 L&A high school students pursuing post secondary education this September.
“We are proud to continue to support local students attending post secondary education at university, college and the trades,” said Mr. Baker.
The Community Foundation will celebrate recipients of the community grants and student awards at the annual Take it for Granted event at 7pm on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Selby Community Hall. The media is invited to this event.
The Community Grants Program was greatly assisted by a team of community-based volunteer reviewers who played an integral role in assessing the grants and student awards applications. Grants for these projects come entirely from funds established at the Community Foundation by individuals, families, and organizations who want to build a community in which we all thrive together. A complete list of the funded projects can be found below.
