Stoney Steps Artfest Stone Mills Award for the Arts

The Stoney Steps Artfest Stone Mills Award for the Arts was established by Martha Embury with the Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington in 2023 to recognize and advance art education in Stone Mills.

The Stoney Steps Artfest was created to showcase the outstanding work of local community artists. It builds upon the legacy of the successfully popular Art Among the Ruins artisan show held annually for many years in Newburgh.

The Stoney Steps Artfest Stone Mills Award for the Arts will be awarded to a graduating high school student who is a resident of Stone Mills* and who has been accepted into a post-secondary program in the arts, (art, fine arts, music, graphic design), and has been involved in leadership initiatives during their secondary years geared towards positive change in their community, with added emphasis on the arts. The student will have demonstrated a passion for the arts in their own endeavours and in support of the artistic endeavours of others.

(*if there is no applicant from Stone Mills Township, the award will be given to an eligible student who is a resident of Lennox & Addington and who has been accepted into a post-secondary program in the arts. If there is no eligible applicant from Lennox & Addington, the award will be given to support the Arts in the School to Community Program at Napanee District Secondary School.)
