Newburgh Resident Creates Funds to Support Environmental Action, Poverty Alleviation, and an Indigenous Student Award at the Community Foundation for L&A

The Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington has received a generous donation of $32,500 from Newburgh resident David Field to create a fund to support causes with a focus on Environmental Action and Poverty Alleviation, and a second fund to create a student award for Indigenous students pursuing post-secondary school education.

“The Field Family Fund will focus on supporting projects and causes in Lennox & Addington that address environmental issues and the relief of poverty in our most vulnerable communities,” according to Mr. Field, who is also Foundation Board Director. “With this donation, I hope to make a difference by contributing funds close to home and inspiring others to join me in supporting local causes through the Community Foundation.”

“The Community Foundation has identified the environment, poverty reduction, and healthcare as high priority issues requiring support to meet local needs,” said Bob Baker, Executive Director of the Community Foundation. “We are grateful to David and his family for their generosity and leadership.”

In addition to the Field Family fund, the Mary Jo Field Indigenous Student Award Fund has also been established by Mr. Field in remembrance of his wife Mary Jo. “This award is designed to help those students who share our family’s values of hard work and education and take the next step to a post-secondary school education,” said Mr. Field. “This annual $2,500 award is open to all Indigenous high school students residing in Lennox & Addington attending post-secondary education.”

The Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington is a registered charity with a mission to provide a never-ending resource for charitable causes in Lennox & Addington by building endowment funds that respond to the needs of our community today, tomorrow, and for future generations to come.
