Together, We Can Decrease Food Insecurity in Lennox & Addington!

We are pleased to be able to support the disbursement of grants from the Emergency Community Response Fund in partnership with Community Foundations of Canada and the Government of Canada.

The Covid-19 pandemic has created new difficulties for individuals and families in our community who are experiencing food insecurity. The Morningstar Relief Mission is experiencing a four-fold increase in demand for meals and the need to rapidly alter their meal delivery services. The Community Foundation for Lennox & Addington has been able to disburse two Emergency Community Response Fund grants to the Morningstar Relief Mission.

The first grant will allow the Morningstar Relief Mission to lease local kitchen space in order to continue its meal preparation service in the face of increased demand on top of a necessary kitchen renovation in their own facility.

The second grant will allow the Morningstar Relief Mission to acquire additional refrigeration and freezer capacity as they rapidly pivot to a frozen and refrigerated meal service.

Both grants have been disbursed from the Emergency Community Response Fund in partnership with Community Foundations of Canada and the Government of Canada.
